I'm still rather new to Ubuntu so please help!!
While trying to resolve an issue with a program I loaded, I had to use my Administrator password. I went to "User Profiles" and selected my profile I saw that my password was gone and was replaced by a shorter password. The current password is not one I set on the Administrator and is five characters long.
was working on setting up users on a new machine. Then I noticed in order to create a new user, you have to "unlock" the settings. Upon clicking it, it requires an administrative password. I've tried the root password, my current user password, a second account I created via puppet's password, nothing works... password doesn't, admin or administrator doesn't, fedora doesn't...
How do I add myself back as a sudo user?
I was exploring in user accounts. I only have my account but i changed from administrator to standart. and I didn't can put to administrator again because it requets a password, I put my ancient but it doesn't accept. I need a master password or something so. I can't install nor delete any application.
I disabled the password for my user account while I was logged in (I was the only administrator). But I did not enable automatic login. I switched user to "Guest", but when I switched back to my account (the administrator account), my user account askes me for my password. When I type my password in, it says its incorrect. So I need a way of accessing my user account if this is the case.
To modify a user in Fedora 19 I need to provide the Administrator password. My root password doesn't work. It seems to be related to another issue. I cannot log in through the login screen. I have to do CTRL+ALT+F2 -> login -> startx. I'm in after that. However, when I lock the screen I cannot log in back. I'm getting the same authentication error as with the Administrator account.
I have successfully installed 12.04 LTS on a USB stick with persistiant image and it is working well. I have even managed to add flash player and get the wifi working. I would like to password protect the USB stick howvever when I try this with administrator privliges and I try to login again it does not recognise the password.
