How to get VMware Workstation 8.0.4 work on Ubuntu 12.04 64 bit?

http://askubuntu.com – I've bought VMware Workstation 8 just today. After the installation I launched it and the application noticed me that "several modules must be compiled and loaded into the running kernel". During the process, VMware noticed me that was impossible to configure Virtual Network Devices and at the end, was impossible to start the services. I have installed OpenSUSE 11.3 64 bit and want to install VMWare workstation 7.1.

I have run the install script for VMWare without any issues.

When I start the VMWare Workstation I get a window saying this:

Before you can run VMWare, several modules must be compiled and loaded into the running kernel. Kernel Headers 2.6.34-12-desktop

I have used Fedora 9 and 10 very nicely under VMware Workstation running on my Vista laptop.

FC 11 installs just fine. The VMware Tools install into FC 11 without error. You just cannot configure them, since the kernel is so new. The config-vmware-tools.pl script fails.

I am having trouble running VMware Workstation 9 on Ubuntu 12.10.

After successfully installing it, at run time, the following error appears:

The VMware Tools kernel modules could not be automatically rebuilt. Please manually run: vmware-config-tools.pl --modules-only To rebuild them.

In an attempt to fix this problem, I am getting the following extra errors:

sudo sh /usr/bin/vmware-config-too

I installed VMware Desktop 9, first as an update to VMware Workstation 8.03, and everything went smooth the installer told me that VM Workstation 8 would be uninstalled and VM Workstation 9 installed...

I have tried a few things already but I still can't seem to uninstall it. The last thing I tried was this code, vmware-installer --uninstall-product vmware-workstation, and that didn't work for me, I even tried it as root, I got this message, vmware-installer: command not found. If anyone has other ideas please let me know I'd appreciate it. Thanks.
