HOW-TO: Find out MAC address of IP address on Linux

http://stackoverflow.com – This is no question. I just want to share my little (bash) script with the whole world. Well... Maybe we are finding some improvements. :) At first some informations about the script. I've programmed the script, because a friend needed a solution for finding out the MAC address of a given IP address in his LAN (= Local Area Network). Very easy... I just had to combine 3 commands: "ping", "arp" and "cut". The script is doing following: 1. Ping given IP address (for updating ARP-Table) 2. Reads all informations of the IP address from the ARP-Table 3. Returns the MAC address from step 2 But th (HowTos)
