How to find the no of files cached in linux at the time of open & loading folder

http://www.linuxquestions.org – Hey guys when we do enter on a folder it take some time for loading the folder depending on the no of entries in the folder . If the folder has more entries it take more time to load and if less no of entries then correspondingly less time . the delay in loading the folder varies due to reading of the folder entries in advance . SO what i want to know is that what is the MAX no of entries read in advance while opening a folder in linux and also how can we calculate this . Thanks and Regards kotesh (HowTos)

Hi :D Is there a way to show or count how many CPU instructions a particular process is using or uses? In my work we develop a web application and I'm responsible of maintaining the web server. The app lets you handle data online so each client that uses the web application has a folder associated to it, where his data is stored. (/var/www/html/test) for example.

Grub2 boot entries don't change 3 years 15 weeks ago

My grub2 boot entries never change. I have run sudo update-grub and it finds all the proper kernels and such and says that it has updated. I check with the menu.lst and grub.cfg and they both look to be correct, however, when I go to boot I am stuck with my old boot entries.

Problem to import included file 3 years 15 weeks ago

Hello,

I'm compiling a C code with an included header file located in the folder /home/xxxx/local/include but the compiler doesn't find it (that's normal ^^).

I'm searching how to indicate once that the searched file is in this folder (I'm going to compile a lot of different file and I don't want to put the all path each time).

i have installed CentOS on my computer.

And i have installed webmin, virtualmin to control "Virtual Servers" (sites).

Apache runs under user apache

But i can read any folder and file with php from any site.

I am runnin CentOS 5.4 on a machine wiht 2GB of ram. of that 2GB free -m shows that 1.8 is being used. I wanted to find out what was consumign the RAM. I came across .mozilla folder in every users home directory. I am thinkning, is this machine some kind of GUI that is consuming the ram?

I did ps aux | grep gnome and ps aux | grep kde but that came up with nothing.

Hello, my hp pavilion ze4900 was workign perfectly then i installed some navidia driver thing ( wich wasnt for my cp) and then when i restarted it went blank. I have read various ways to fix this but i am still a linux noob and need much help.

I have a CentOS 5 server in which I use Virtual Hosting and each domain has its own user/pass for login to upload files.

The path is /var/www/vhosts/[domain name]/httpdocs/
