My problem is that the hotkeys to change brightness of my laptop are not changing the underlying setting in Gnome.
Hello,I am starting to appreciate the efficiency of #!.However there is a little hurdle because I am not that experienced in Linux.xfce power manager does not have adjustment for default screen brightness at boot-up.When my laptop boots to #! the screen brightness is at 100%. The Fn key brightness up/brightness down works, but i migrated from Ubuntu/Mint.
I don't think that this is just a Gnome issues, but I'm not sure.
I have Japanese Sony VAIO VPCCB series laptop. I'm dual booting Windows 7 and UbuntuGnome.
My problem is using the Fn key with the Function keys to use the multimedia features.
For Gnome, it is a normal behaviour, that on closing the lid, the pc suspends, but I would like that my notebook still works and doesn't suspend.
On Beefy Miracle I used the gnome-tweak-tool to setup my Asus Eee PC 1000H to not suspend, and right now after upgrading, Gnome in Spherical Cow ignores this settings.
I just had a look with the dconf-editor on the settings under

Hi!
I have a Toshiba R830 laptop. The problem I have is that the screen brightness controller stops work after I resume the computer from sleep mode. If I do a complete reboot - I can change the screen brightness. It works if I wake it up from hibernate too.
I've installed the Synaptics driver and now my touchpad works as it should, also the fn key works. But what about the settings reset for volume and brightness after restart?

I have been browsing and Ubuntu and my netbook doesn't seem to get along with this issue (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.p...dot+brightne
My touchpad is enabled using all the normal methods on my Samsung N150. However, on one userid, it does not work. The touchpad-indicator shows it disabled and the
"Enable Touchpad" feature of touchpad-indicator does nothing. On other userids,
the touchpad can be enabled and disabled.
This is independent of window manager. On other userids, touchpad works with
Unity or gnome.
