Yesterday I installed ubuntu 12.04.1.
Note : its a dual boot system along windows 7
At first grub was appearing and i was able to start ubuntu but then i had to switch to windows but windows was not booting when i select windows 7 it jumps back to grub window. So i fix the Windows Boot Loader using repair from windows media and wolla windows started to boot but Ubuntu Grub gone.
i just installed ubuntu 12.10 alongside windows 7 but now my computer automatically boots to ubuntu. i want windows 7 as my default operating system. when i start up my laptop it shows me no settings or any screen asking me what operating system to use.
Ive been running a dual boot set up with Vista for a while (I usually mess things up when I update suse :P)
I left boot options at the default which was my initial mistake, but basically i think grub was installed at the mbr. In other words i didnt have the windows boot menu.
Hi everyone,
I'm having some problems with setting up a dual boot. The setup I have is as followed:
Windows 7 installed on one disk drive (sda)
Ubuntu 12.4 installed on my second disk drive (sdb)
If I boot off the second disk drive I get the grub menu which has the option to boot either ubuntu or windows.
I have a computer with 2 operating systems dual booted: One is Windows 7 and the other is Ubuntu. My Ubuntu installation is installed within the Windows partition via wubi.exe.
I'm not using grubby, but windows 7's default bootloader.
Installed Fedora 16 x86_64 LXDE a few months ago.
Before installation I resized my C:-partition from inside of Windows so I could get some free space to install Fedora on (so I would be able to dual-boot with Fedora and Windows Vista). The installation went fine and Fedora is usable and all BUT I am not able to boot Windows Vista anymore!
Original title: How can i solve (un)booting windows 7 on the same partition with grub?
I've been researching for 2/3 days about this problem and I have came up empty.
Basically, partition 1 is Windows 7 and partition 2 is Ubuntu 12.04. I told Ubuntu to install into partition 2 and to install grub on partition 1 and that works fine. But the problem now is that I can't boot to Windows 7.
Okay so I have Ubuntu 12.10, Win7, and Win8 all on my machine. On the GRUB menu at boot up it would show ubuntu and windows 8 (along with the memtest and the other defaults).I would be able to choose windows 8 and once that was chosen I could then choose windows 8 or 7. Now when I choose windows 8 it just goes straight to windows 8. I didn't change any settings or anything like that.
I installed Ubuntu 12.04 on my laptop to dual-boot it with Windows 7 that has already been installed. Then I used EasyBCD to configure it. When I choose Windows 7 in the menu, it boots directly to Windows.
When I choose Ubuntu, however, GRUB2 screen appears and I have to choose Ubuntu again.
How can I prevent that from happening?
