Hello! I have just installed Ubuntu 12.10 on my Acer Aspire One 725 but I cannot seem to adjust my screen brightness and it is stuck on maxmimum draining my battery quickly. I have searched through every thread but nothing seems to work for my specific laptop. I have tried editing my
Code:
/etc/default/grub
as tried in many other threads but it has not worked for me.
Can't adjust brightness on Acer Aspire 5738 running Karmic. The same happened under Jaunty. The screen never seems to reach its full brightness and it flickers.
Hi
I have just installed xubuntu on my laptop and I am unable to adjust the brightness of the screen....at the moment it is very bright!!!
The laptop is an Acer 5755G core i7 nvidia gt540m
The function keys (FN+arrows) bring up the image of the sun and the slider moves, but the screen brightness doesn't actually change.
Definitely a laptop problem, hopefully not a hardware problem.
When I try to adjust my laptops screen brightness, it goes to some very low brightness and then the screen starts flickering (ie changing between different brightness levels). When my laptop boots, it's at full brightness, and when I adjust that, flickering starts. After that I cannot get it back to any non-very-low brightness.
I'm not able to adjust brightness on my laptop, neither from the GUI tool nor via my laptop's built in FN keys. The prompt for brightness does come up, and the slider moves, but it has no effect and my laptop remains stuck on the highest brightness settings possible.
How do I fix this?
I'm currently using a LG laptop with Nvidia Cuda GeForce GT 335M.
I have difficulty adjusting the screen brightness using FN+Arrow Up/Arrow Down. The brightness indicator will appear and the bar will not decrease beyond the first jump.
I recently installed Ubuntu 9.04 (x64) on my gateway m-series laptop. Works great minus the fact that I can adjust the screen brightness. when using an applet or my keyboard, ubuntu shows that it is being adjusted, but the actually screen brightness is constant(100%). Besides the fact that it is killing my battery, my eyes dont really adjust well to it.
I have a gateway m-series laptop, and I just recently installed ubuntu 9.04 (x64) in attempts to broadening my OS use. For the most part this is working great, but my current issue is with my screen brightness. When attempting to adjust the brightness either through ubuntu or on my keyboard(fn+up or down) ubuntu shows that I am adjusting the brightness but there is no actual change.
I have a Toshiba l755 laptop, and I installed 12.04 64bit on it. The default brightness of the laptop is set to maximum value, and I can't change it.
If I go to Configuration → Brightness, the brightness doesn't change and neither does pressing the function keys.
