Hello, as a Christmas present for my mum I decided to give her my old laptop. Without thinking about having Grub and other Linux stuff on it I went into the Windows Recovery menu on my ACER ASPIRE ONE D150 NETBOOK WITH WINDOWS XP and allowed it to format my computer back to factory settings. It was not done from a disk, but by a partition as it doesn't have a CD drive.
Okay, so I split my HD into two partitions, my original windows 7 partition and an Ubuntu partition. I needed to delete my ubuntu partition briefly, but now when I try to boot my computer it comes up with "error no such partition grub rescue." I've tried booting from my Ubuntu CD to reinstall it, but it doesn't work.
After already having a dual boot (win7 and Ubuntu) I wanted to add Mint. During installation from flash, the install had an error while configuring the HDD partition and apparently deleted a partition and GRUB. I downloaded "repair-boot" and let it run. Now GRUB doesn't even show. The comp boots only into win7. No GRUB at all.
Hi,
I wanted to dual boot Win7 and Ubuntu 12.04LTS. So, I installed Win7 first.
Then I installed Ubuntu 12.04LTS, using the "side by side" option and it went through fine and I got the grub loader asking for which i wanted to boot.
Then, there was around 100gb or unallocated space which I made as a partition of windows.
So I resized the partition next to the one where I have ubuntu installed. Using Easeus Partition Master I made it smaller so there was unallocated space between it and the Ubuntu partition with the intention of using it to install programs. When Partition Master tried to reboot all that happened was a black screen appeared with the message ''Grub error, unknown file system...
I made a partition with Windows disk management (40GB) for the purpose of installing Ubuntu.
I am currently dual booting Win7 and Ubunto. I created a new partition, on my c drive, to install windows 8 on (i did not want to do the upgrade). I inserted the windows 8 cd and restarted my computer. no such partition/ grub rescue is all that comes up now. i loaded ubuntu from disk and did boot-repair.
I have an Acer Aspire M3910 desktop with a Windows 7 install on it and its "died"....
No recovery disc made....it won't boot into Acer recovery mode (alt f10 brings up an error message)....trying to boot normally tells me bootmgr is missing....and it won't even allow me to install XP from a Dvd (boot attempts result in a head drive configuration issue error.
In short I just want to res
My computer does not have a working CD rom drive, so I had booted from USB (used UNetbootin to make the USB) to install Ubuntu initially. I had Ubuntu working on my laptop (Gateway 7330gz), started messing around with it, and decided I wanted to start fresh again.
