I'm looking to install Linux on my Macbook Pro in a Dual Boot config. I've previously asked this question in a different fashion here: Dual Boot Fedora 16 with OS X rEFIt.
However, it didn't really get much attention and seems to have fallen of the radar.
Hello All,
Here is the deal. I'm trying to dual boot Snow Leopard and Ubuntu on an old mac I have (It's a 2008 Core Duo Plastic Blackbook, version 4,1). I just purchased a new hard drive, installed it and put Snow Leopard on. I then partitioned the hard drive and installed rEFIt, which worked great.
Hi
I run a Dual Boot with Win 7 on my Lenovo laptop, which i recently swapped for a MacBook pro, I want to dual boot the Mac with Fedora 17 - I read an article on a few fixes that were done to support booting MacBooks,
This is a late 2011 MacBook - Intel Core i7, AMD Radeon Graphics
Is dual boot possible?
Hi all!
I've been searching the web (scarcely) for a guide on how would be for me the best way to install Fedora (16) onto my MacBook Pro (I've had it with those times that I'm at work and something's come up and I have to wait until later that night to get into my Linux workstation) coexisting (if at all possible) happily with Snow Leopard (soon to be Lion) on the same drive.
I've installed Ubuntu on my Macbook before but something went wrong with the updater. So, I had to backup my HDD and format it and reinstall OS X Lion.
But here's the thing: Ever since I re-installed my OS I've been trying to get Ubuntu back on the HDD. I partitioned it to 40 GB and set the file system to Ext4.
I burned a Fedora 11 Live CD i686, and tried to boot from it on my MacBook. The first couple of times, it would get to the boot options(?) screen. When I selected "Boot", there was a message saying something like "Not accessible"; basically it would hang.
Hey Guys,
So coming from the PC world, I used Ubuntu a lot on all my Dells and things from years past.
However, I just got my Macbook and loving it so far, but the question I have is why would I want to install Ubuntu on my macbook? Both OSX and Linux are Unix based...so not sure what the benefit would be.
Thoughts?
Thanks.
Today i endly decide to put a Linux in dual boot on my macbook 7.1

I installed Arch succefully, folowing the tuto about the macbook specific install.

A couple of months ago, I was able to install Ubuntu on my wife's Macbook Air. At the time it was still running Lion when I wiped it. About a week later, we wiped Ubuntu and installed Mountain Lion. Recently, I decided I wanted to stick with Ubuntu and so went through the process of wiping OSX to install Ubuntu.
