How Do I Store A Configuration File During Ubuntu Package Creation To Copy Over During Install

view story

http://stackoverflow.com – I have to admit. I'm really green when it comes to package creation. Anyway, I created a package skeleton with dh_make. I want to store a file in the package and have it copy over after the install of the package (or at any point during the install, doesn't matter). It's actually an ldap configuration file so it's just a static flat file. I want to make a backup of that file prior to overwriting it. I thought that the postinst script will do that, but when I "install" the file after building the package, it only looks locally for the file. Here is my postinst script: #!/bin/bash -xv (HowTos)
