I maintain a customized kernel, also I provide patches that you can use directly for major version of kernel source code, now I got a classic problem,
I developed the patch based on 3.7.8 kernel, as newer version 3.7.9 is out, I had to develop the patch for 3.7.9 as well, but how should I do this quickly?
Right now, I download the whole source code of 3.7.9, migrate the code to new version of ke
I'm running the current stable Ubuntu version (Oneiric) but have issues with the shipped kernel.
I have a small PC booting CentOS 5.8 with kernel 2.6.18-164 from a CF card on a CF to SATA adapter. Boot time on this machine is cca 2 minutes, but with an updated kernel to 3.x it drops down to 80 secs. What is more, according to tests, it has 10 times bigger data rate transfer with this newer kernel!
I think that this is because of an older version of driver which handles SATA to CF adapter.
I have an external USB sound card on a Fedora 17 system (64 bit). It stopped playing sound after I updated the kernel to 3.5.4-1 (the problem persists under 3.5.4-2).
As the sound card still plays sound when I boot 3.5.3-1, I assume that the problem is neither hardware-related nor a matter of badly configured settings.
The new updated Linux Kernel version 2.6.37 is now available for download. If you are still using the older Linux Kernel, it is highly recommend to update to this latest version 2.6.37. You can find many tutorial on how to install or update the Linux Kernel to the latest 2.6.37.

On December 3, Greg Kroah-Hartman announced the immediate availability for download of yet another maintenance release for the stable Linux 3.0 kernel series.
Linux kernel 3.0.54 only brings a few changes and most of them involve driver updates, script improvements, sound tweaks, and a couple of kernel bug fixes.
"I'm announcing the release of the 3.0.54 kernel.
There is a bug with these kernels with DTMF when calling to banks and ect... (AVR problem)
