Hi. I bought a Samsung YP-M1 EB media player from Samsung and connected it to my Ubuntu 9.10. Ubuntu detected it as a msdos USB device (which is correct).
I am Running Ubuntu 12.04 x64. When I plug the USB cable in from my Samsung SPH-M930 phone, it doesn't seem to want to mount the device. It recognizes it in lsusb, but will not mount.
Code:
Me@MyComputer:~$ lsusb
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
Bus 001 Device 002: ID 8087:0020 Intel Corp.
I Plug my gs3 into my laptop, and nothing happens. I went to terminal, typed "lsusb" command, and the return print was, for one of the usb ports, "Bus 002 Device 015: ID 04e8:6860 Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd GT-I9100 Phone [Galaxy S II], GT-P7500 [Galaxy Tab 10.1]". My device is neither the S2 or the Galaxy tab. Any ideas on how to get this working?
As a follow up to the Samsung Rugby Smart, Samsung has created the Galaxy Rugby Pro, another phone made for people who tend to be a little more physical with their phone. It’s no Galaxy S III, but for for $100 the features are not so bad considering you can probably play ice hockey with this phone and it would survive.
I got an old samsung sch-r350 cell phone that I would like to use as a mp3 player but when I plug it in it will not pop up like when you plug in a mp3 player or usb drive.
I have a SanDisk Sansa Clip Zip mp3 player. When I plug it in to the USB port, I get the following:
$ dmesg
...
usb 1-3: new high-speed USB device number 11 using ehci_hcd
hub 1-0:1.0: unable to enumerate USB device on port 3
The Sansa does not show up in lsusb, or in fdisk.
I believe it is not a problem with the cable or the player, as a test-run on a Mac worked fine.

Okay, I guess I've read enough marginally related threads, with no joy, to start my own on this problem.
