Recently got a new Dell XPS15 laptop. The laptop came with Windows 8 by default (no provided installation media). Have been having some real difficulties with dual booting Ubuntu 12.04 and Windows 8.

I have succesfully installed Ubuntu 12.10 x64 in my new Asus laptop ( with Windows 8 preinstalled. After the boot I can't boot in Windows 8 and I run Boot Repair. Now I can boot in Windows 8 but there are many entries in my grub.
Okay, here is the deal. I installed Ubuntu 11.10 in October or so, so that it would dual boot on my laptop along with Windows Vista. I haven't had any problems with the set up since then. It would boot using the Windows boot loader which I noted was different from my desktop which would use Grub.
I am fairly new to Linux/Ubuntu and am in need of some help. I have dual booted Windows 7 and Ubuntu 12.10 on 2 separate hard drives. After several attempts, I was only able to get it working by changing the BIOS hd boot option. I then found some threads on repairing the boot process by using Boot-Repair.
I recently installed Ubuntu 12.04 alongside Windows 7 on my laptop. After I did this I couldn't boot into Windows 7. I got an error regarding an 'invalid EFI path'. After a bit of searching the forums, I found out about Boot Repair. I ran this in my Ubuntu partition and it has fixed the problem.
I have a dual boot of Win7 and Ubuntu on my HP laptop. I upgraded from Ubuntu 11.10 to 12.04 today and on restart I got a different black Grub screen instead of the usual purple one. (GNU GRUB version 1.99-21ubuntu3.1) Each boot option only returns error messages.

Ok, I attempted a fresh Ubuntu install as I was having some internal system errors. When a simple "re-installation" didn't fix anything, I performed a "delete Ubuntu 13.04 and reinstall" from the boot USB.
That's when it all began. First I had a grub problem, where all I got at boot was the Grub Recovery. So I booted my windows recovery and repaired it.
I've bought new laptop Sony Vaio E14P series. It has pre-installed Windows 8, and I want to dual boot it with Ubuntu 12.10 64bit. I have diabled secure boot and install Ubuntu without any problem from live USB.
When I reboot after installation, it directly boot to windows 8, dont load GRUB at all. So I went to live USB again to boot-repair.
I had a Win7/Ubuntu dual-boot set up on my laptop. I deleted Ubuntu, and when I load up my computer I am now met with a screen displaying the following:
error: no such partition. grub rescue>
How can I have my computer boot straight into Windows 7 again?
Solved: I created a win7 system repair disc using another machine, and fixed the problem using the bootrec command within Command Prompt.
