Linux Mint 13 uses the new login manager - MDM. According to the official site of Linux Mint, MDM has more features than any other login manager currently available but I am not so sure about that because I sincerely dont care much about the login managers. The only thing I can say is that the default login screen of MDM is quite ugly (just my personal opinion).
Since Ubuntu 9.10, installing new login screen themes or changing the login window appearances is not as easy as before.
I have written an article about how to customize the Ubuntu login screen. After you edit the login screen, you may want to share your work on blogs and forums. However, you simply cannot just press the print-screen button to take screenshot of the login screen in Ubuntu. To do so, you can use a workaround command to preview the login screen and take screenshot of it.
Linux mint cinnamon 1.4 released with "MDM display manager".It is based on the code of GDM2.20.It provides:-
Graphical configuration tools
Themeability
Remote, automatic and timed login
Event scripting
Language selection
And it comes with more features than any other Display Manager currently available.
(MDM)
So How can I use MDM instead of lightDM on Ubuntu?
Hi
I've just installed 12.04, which is nice but a little too automated for my liking.
I would like to be able to boot to a tty login screen, as I used to be able to do in 8.04. After logging in, I'd like to be able to login and then manually open my windows manager, as I did with 8.04.
Using system settings I changed my language to Arabic and deleted the English language from the settings. Then the computer lagged and it logged out - now I can't log back in because the login is in Arabic.
So is there a way to default my language via terminal, default the login password language, or login via terminal which is still in English. I only have access to guest and a terminal.
I'm not sure whether this is a bug (in which case I'll submit a report) or I'm doing something silly!
Hello,
a customer of ours is having a problem with his Cpanel account. When he tries to log in to the english version of Cpanel it will reject his login information.
I am unable to get past the login screen. It won't accept passwords, the screen momentarily goes black, and then returns to the login screen.
I recently found out that you can use CTRL-ALT-F1 to switch from the login screen to the command line. My password works in that situation and I was able to enter terminal mode.
I typed in "startx" to see what would happen.
