Hello everyone,
I currently have issues with installing ubuntu 12.10 on my Asus K95V laptop.
I can boot from the USB, it gives me this menu:

Im getting a black screen when i press Install Ubuntu.
I´ve been trying to follow every guide I see about installing ubuntu onto a UEFI laptop, but so far nothing has worked. Basically I want to overwrite windows 8 with ubuntu, so I never have to see it again. I installed ubuntu 12.10 64 bit with pendrive onto a USB, went into the computer BIOS, set the usb drive as the priority, disabled fastboot and secure boot.
I am trying to install Ubuntu 12.04 on my Laptop (Intel Dual Core/Nvidia Graphics).
I am able to boot from cd and I reach the purple screen (here)
But after this screen there is a black screen with a blinking cursor. I have seen all the similar topics but haven't solved it yet.
i installed 12.10 yesterday on my dell latitude 610 , installation was fine and then nothing afterwards it would just boot to a black screen, so I reinstalled it via the USB on boot and selected nomodeset again installed fine then same problem reoccurs that It goes to the black screen, a couple of times it's said about the graphics and says 3 options , 1 being run in low res for one session and I
I have used the program "Universal USB Installer" to 'save' the ubuntu on my USB stick.
So far - good.
When I boot the it, I get these options , but on a totally black screen and I can't use them.
I choose to install, then it goes to completely black screen and nothing happens.. No install, nothing.

Running into an issue trying to boot Ubuntu on my new PC. Formatted my USB stick (8GB) using pendrivelinux to make the iso image bootable. Power on computer, get to Asus' awesome new BIOS screen, everything looks good so far.
I am a newbie to Linux and also a first semester IT student. I have downloaded and burned the ISO Ubuntu file and when I attempt to boot from the CD, after selecting Install Ubuntu, I get a black screen. I have tried the alt. options to no avail. I have tried on my laptop(Compaq cq60) and my desktop(Dell 2350). I have a partition on my laptop just for Ubuntu but still no graphics. Help!
Hi forums. First post, sorry it had to start out with a problem.
Hi guys, I'm rather new to the Linux world and am experiencing some problems I'd like to seek help with.
So I recently did a fresh install of Ubuntu 12.10 in my Acer Aspire 4736z, which has Intel GMA4500 chipsets.I had to set 'nomodeset' in the installation part to get through the installation itself, otherwise I would get stuck with a black screen.
It ran smoothly, no problems whatsoever af
