I can see the workgroup of Windows Network from Ubuntu, but when i put the username and password of Windows 7 from Ubuntu it doesn't get any access to the shared folders. I don't know where the problem is for not getting the username and password accepted or authorization.
I even tried turning off the password requirement in Windows 7, but no luck.
I have the latest version of Samba, latest Ubuntu build, and have enabled Samba and decided to share 2 folders from my home folder on the linux box. I chose to not allow guest access and to require a password to login. The shared folders do show up on my XP box, but when I click on them and it prompts me for a username and password, the login info entered doesn't work.
Hey all,
I had my PC set up nice and then i used computer janitor to remove things. I forgot to tell it not to mess with my settings so i have had to redo everything.
I have samba installed and it can see my PC over network but it asks for username and password.

I installed the Ubuntu server 12.04 easily, however, when I boot it asks for a username and password. I don't know my previous username or password from Windows XP. I am currently trying to install any version of Ubuntu I have in my arsenal to recover the PC, but all intents so far have failed.
I have created a local windows account on a Windows Server 2008r2 server and given that local account, amongst others, access to 2 shared folders.
I have also connected various mobile devices (PPC2003, CE5, WM6.5) to the network using the same account details but when navigating to the share from the devices I can resolve to the server but can not see any of the shared folders.
I've installed Windows Server 2003 R2 and IIS role (no Active Directory role).
I've setup a virtual directory named 'test' and under Security tab of the 'test' Virtual Directory I've disabled the Anonymous login and enabled Integrated Windows Authentication. The server is on the local network. What I do is I access the test/ directory on the server using the browser.
I installed sharepoint server 2010 on a domain controller but when I want to connect to my team site or my document workspace through the internet it keeps prompting me to enter my username and password.
I'm using Windows Server 2008 R2, I have an ADSL Modem Router and i have forwarded all ports from 1 to 65000 in my router.
