I have a Windows 2008 server that is running an SMTP server. The server has a public IP Address. I have 2 other windows servers, not in the same network, that are used for hosting client applications. We have a need to make sure that the emails sent through the client application to the SMTP server look like they originate from the original domains.
I have a back-end system which only supports sending email to an *UN*authenticated SMTP server, however, ultimately it needs to go via an authenticated SMTP server on the public internet.
My idea was to send it internally to a local SMTP server unauthenticated, and then have that middleman server relay to an authenticated public SMTP server (such as gmail) with the relevant credentials.
I have a dedicated server that sends mail with own smtp (obviously).
On this server I have a web platform for music artists that allows entries for each enrollment and sends confirmation e-mails and so on ...
Now I have purchased a service smtp (like those of smtp.com) because I would like the email address of record for sure arrived to the recipient to avoid being falsely labeled as s
I would like to install a Test/Dummy SMTP server on a Windows 2008 server (virtual box). I just want to test my web application on the machine it self so I don't need the mails to go out on the internet, but just to be written to disk (so that I can verify that the mail function was indeed called and the correct data was handed over to SMTP)
I am very new to smtp and am looking for something to deal with the current situation:
I have several servers running really old software (music automation) and they all need to report in daily via email. Unfortunately, this software is only able to deal with unauthenticated smtp, so they can't use an smtp server that requires a password.
I have a documentation program that needs to send mails to users. In order to do this it needs to use an smtp server. We have access to our internet providers smtp server. However that server requires password authentication.
The documentation system does not have the ability to use this as there is no way for it to provide the password.
I have a python script running like this on my server:
python script.py &
The script works fine, but constantly I'm adding new things to the script and re-running it, somedays it runs for days without any problem, but sometimes the script stops running (Not running out of memory), but since I started the script as background I have no idea how to check for the Exception or error that cause
