Sometimes I need to do some operational work in text mode
and I need to setup internet connection from command line (without any networkmanager applet).
(Please note: that when I run Window Manager, I have network connection immediately, thanks to NetworkManager applet.)
When I list my connections and look for wired one:
# nmcli con | grep Wired
New Wired Connection b15ffacf-a5c58-44af-b75
I hope you can find something, as I can see no reason why NetworkManager would be considerably slower than netctl. Typically dhclient is about as fast as dhcpcd.Maybe you could try connman-git from the AUR. It is controlled with connmanctl, for which there is no included man page, but looking therough the --help output I was able to figure it out just fine. There ia also connman_
It seems there is a bug in the command line tool "nmcli" after a recent upgrade ..The GUI applet still works, but I can no longer start/stop connections with nmcli ..The error when using nmcli con ... is:Stopping Mobile Broadband Connection.Error: Can't obtain connections: settings service is not running.I had a script using nmcli to start stop my 3G connection ..
After switching to systemd, I started to use NetworkManager.service, I got connected to WIFI automatically at boot, but I got the following message when I run nmcli con:
** (process:4433): WARNING **: Could not initialize NMClient /org/freedesktop/NetworkManager: Method "GetAll" with signature "s" on interface "org.freedesktop.DBus.Properties" doesn't exist
Error: nmcli (0.9.6.4) and NetworkMana
I do not know where to post what I have discovered, so let it be here.People using GPRS or 3G Bluetooth modems, including me, already know that since 2011, NetworkManager does not work well with Blueman. The common problem is the modem device being registered by Blueman + ModemManager, but not showing up in NetworkManager`s main menu.So today I decided to try and correct this bug myself.Let`s take
I am running a version of RHCE6 on my laptop, and lately I've been trying various stuff about network configuration through command line. Last night, I tried removing the NetworkManager using "yum remove NetworkManager" from the system, so that I could have more control of the network through the command line.
Hi,I just bought a usb modem ZTE MF195, and I am using Aero2 network (Poland). After googling, I found out how to setup this modem to work on Arch, but it only works with wvdial and it doesn't connect with NetworkManager. My config /etc/wvdial.conf:[Dialer Defaults]
