Aargh! Now all local interfaces are gone. I thought since I don't even have any /dev/usb* or /dev/lp* files or directories, maybe the problem is in udev. I have edited some of my rules - while I was at it, mainly for automounting - and now cups cannot connect to anything anymore.kernel modules:"lsmod | grep lp" gives only some *-helper* modules, no parallel, lp or usblp module.
I have a Epson TM-T88IIIP attached to a Prolific PL2305 USB to parallel port. How do I print to this printer?
Here is the output from lsusb:

Hi
I'm having fun with an old printer and scanner. Whatever the problem is, it seems to manifest itself differently every time. Unfortunately I need to ask for help with the diagnosis as I am unfamiliar with linux.
Ubuntu 11.1 (32 bit)
Brother MFC-7220
I have an old Brother all-in-one printer/scanner/fax. I have installed the printer side and it is working fine. I have installed the brscan2 for the scanner side but can not get it running.
I have a Laserjet 4L printer and can easily install it assigned to LPT #1.
However, it is not connected to LPT #1 but via a USB port, as follows:
Motherboard USB Port -> KVM Switch* -> USB to Parallel Cable -> Printer
I think the KVM Switch is irrelevant but I have noted it here for completeness.
Okay, I guess I've read enough marginally related threads, with no joy, to start my own on this problem.
Hello,I was trying to install the printer months ago, but always that I tried, bumped into the same thing, same now.I was following the instructions on the wiki, though I might have missed something.Situation:---Cupsd daemon started every boot.---Printer turned on later on.
I have a Brother MFC-7345 printer/scanner and I got the printer working but the scanner just won't work on Fedora 11, I've been to the Brother Linux support site and nothing they're saying to do works.
When I type sane-find-scanner i get
# sane-find-scanner will now attempt to detect your scanner. If the
I am using the Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic, and I am having a hard time running my CanoScan LiDE 200 and I was told that it should just work with my XSane, but my XSane won't register the Scanner so I checked for any missing plug ins to the XSane and added only one item that said it works for my scanner but my scanner still won't work.
