This simple tutorial will explain how to disable or change the Alt+left mouse from moving windows in Ubuntu 12.04 gnome-shell and unity desktop.
There used to be a built-in utility for switching this movement key to an other in Gnome 2.
I don’t know why ‘Move Window’ plugin in CCSM doesn’t work in Ubuntu 12.04.
Hi,
I have recently installed Gnome shell and made some changes, mostly in Compiz but I guess my problem started after installing Compiz Fusion which I found out doesn't work with Gnome shell. There was the option to change desktop environments from Compiz to Metacity and the other way around. After playing around I realized that all of a sudden my mouse was quite slow.
So here I am again, with another thread about gnome shell.
I typically have pidgin and amsn, as well as firefox and thunderbird running.
Once in a while, the left mouse button ceases to function as the left button, and the right button becomes the left button, or almost.. I wonder if this is a bug, or am I hitting the left-handed-mouse function while typing accidentally??
PS: This is a laptop running Fedora 11.

Hi,
here is my question. How can I bind (ctrl+right mouse click) to close window action?
I've read about using xdotool and xbindkeys at :
http://www.bohemianalps.com/blog/201...-mouse-button/
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.p...7#post11378606
but I don't think it bevaves well with non active windows.
I've just moved from unity to gnome shell.
The default effects in mutter just look wrong if you run it stand-alone or as the WM in xfce or any other DE that isn't Gnome Shell. In Gnome Shell the effects behave normal. It feels like I'm running some bad flash animation. :P
Since the fork muffin in Cinnamon have a configuration-tool there must be some settings that can be edited somewhere right?
The first development milestone for GNOME 3.0 is expected to be reached tomorrow with the release of the unstable GNOME 2.31.1 package set. While Zeitgeist, the GNOME Shell, and Mutter are among the most talked about changes for the GNOME 3.0 desktop, many mature packages are receiving new features...
My problem is actually very anoing.
I very familiar with the mouse focus but right now It's not working.
On thisgnome-tweak-tool the last option "windows" have the "windows focus mode" switch, im set it on "mouse" but it does not work. It acts like "sloppy" option. Hope another gnome user understand my issues.
