Hey guys i wonder can any of you please throw me a bone here? I have a server machine set up running Ubuntu 12.04 Desktop LTS (I didnt install the server edition as i wanted a GUI) and a laptop machine which i installed 10.04 on and then took it through the upgrade process all the way to 12.04.
hi, i am trying to install ubuntu server 12.04.1 and the installation seems to go fine. when the cd ejects and it reboots, i get the bios and then it goes black.
I installed Ubuntu 11.10 on my machine alongside Vista, and upgraded to 12.4. I decided I liked 11.10 better, so I tried to install that again as my only OS, except I increased the size of the swap file partition to 2 gigs. It boots up fine off the CD, but when I install, it gives me a non-specific error, and returns me to the desktop.
I have a Dell Dimension 4600 desktop that I no longer use and I decided to turn it into a server. It is running Windows XP. Now, I had a flash drive that has Ubuntu 11.0 on it where I used it to install Ubuntu on another computer.
I have a headless server running the latest Ubuntu Server 12.10. It does not have any GUI at all.
Problem:
I am having the same issue that others are having which is that when you boot or reboot without a monitor (headless) the computer does not boot. The solution presented to others was to edit their xorg.conf file.
i tried to install ubuntu 10.04 from my silicon power 4gb pendrive. i have installed ubuntu 11.10.
I set up a partition for Ubuntu 12.10 and used Wubi to install it. It installed fine, but when I try to boot into Ubuntu It tells me The application or operating system couldn't be loaded because a required file is missing or contains errors. I tried disabling secure boot and fast boot, but it did not work. Has anyone gotten this to and how do I get it to boot into Ubuntu.
On a remote Ubuntu server I performed a series of upgrades/changes to go from a desktop-install Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick to a server-install of 12.04 LTS Precise
This all went well except a few hickups I got around, all the while without physical access -so far-. The next goal is to create a XEN server using LVM as backend storage.
I have installed the wubi on my computer from an iso image.
But when I boot ubuntu it says that press escape if you need to install through other method.
It boots up and on the desktop there is this install "ubuntu 12.04 lts" thing and the examples folder present always.
When I click on it nothing happens.
It is not installing as whatever programs I install get erased as when I boot up again
