I mostly read books on my tablet or ereader, so I've been looking for an epub editor to make text edits while reading. I know I could pull up Sigil and read on my PC, but if I have time to sit down at my desk I have other things to do besides reading, unfortunately.
I've seen a few threads on this, but the newest I could find was several years old.
I'll be using the text editor to clean up the bloat from a Word doc saved as "web page filter" (ie. html). Then I am going to convert the .html into a .epub. Eventually it will be on Amazon et al. as an ebook (novel).
I am using Xubnutu 13.10, 32 bit.
What I have used that worked very well for me in the past (and I know this is an epub editor) was Sigil.
I'd like to create e-book files in the .epub format. I already have the text with some formatting (as .html, .doc, .rtf etc.), and I need an editor (preferably WYSIWYG) in which I can make these changes: fix formatting, fix spelling of some words, add chapters and sections, add a table of contents, add .epub metadata (e.g. title, author) etc.
Under Xournal, I add some text to a pdf file, and then I export to a pdf file. In the exported pdf file, the text I added is shown correctly, and selectable, but when I copy and paste the selected text out to a text editor, it is not the same text I added.
