i have recently upgraded to a clean install of openSuse 11.3 64bit.
i have a belkin wireless pci card which i use ndiswrapper to configure.
Suse has opted to use ifup as the network manager which is fine by me.
i have used yast to configure my ssid and wep password but suse will not connect to my network.
just completed an new install of 11.3 on a laptop and have a couple of wireless config questions.
the wireless is set for ifup mode and have been using iwconfig to set the ssid. is there a preferred way to automatically set the ssid? something that avoids setting a fixed ssid in ifcfg-wlan0.
hello, i have a wireless network at home set to DON'T BROADCAST SSID because i don't want people to see it and use a program to connect to it.

I have JB 4.1.1
can someone help?
Running Maverick 64-bit. I previously had my wireless network set to WEP encryption, and when I'd start my laptop it would automatically connect to the network (with a hidden SSID) and everything was great. In order to use my work laptop at home, I had to change to WPA2 encryption.
I have a Lenovo U450p Ideapad. I just upgraded to 12.04 from 10.04. The wireless worked in 10.04.
EDIT: Even taking br0 out, still cannot get a static IP connection.
I had the following /etc/network/interfaces configuration and it was working
auto lo
iface lo inet loopback
auto eth0
iface etho inet manual
allow-hotplug wlan0
auto wlan0
iface wlan0 inet dhcp
wpa-ssid "xxxx"
wpa-pskl "xxxx"
auto br0
iface br0 inet dhcp
bridge_ports wlan0 eth0
I changed the config for wlan0 to the followi
Hello everyone,
I wanted to know is it possible to connect to a specific AP even if there is multiple AP's with same SSID.
I turned off the SSID beacon on my wireless router. Before hand, my box would connect straight away. after I turned off the beacon it sometimes takes up to a full 2 minutes or more to find it and connect. I can speed up the process by disabling the wireless adapter and reenabling through the NetworkManager icon.
Hello all,
So, I have an Ubuntu 12.04 machine I am trying to connect to my 802.1x wireless network. Let's call it SSID for example. So I enter all of my credentials, it connects and displays "SSID is connected" or whatever the usuall success message is. I am able to get to the Internet and all is well.
But here is my problem.
