Gnome Shell places pop up notifications on the middle bottom of screen.
Hi everyone,I'm trying crunchbang for the first time (I used to play with debian) and I really appreciate the look and customization. This post is a request to help me tweak a little more my whole system. Here we go :(edit: fixed by pvsage) I would like to change the color of the desktop name that is on the upper left corner.
Running 12.04 LTS. This is extremely annoying and makes me want to try another flavor of linux. Yes, this little inconvenience is THAT annoying to me. Most of the time the launcher will appear nice and easy as soon as I mouse over the upper left corner, but many times, the left edge of the screen will get a little darker, but the launcher will not appear.

I have an icon that has never appeared on the top left of my screen before. Typically when you receive notifications, an icon pops up in this location. You swipe down and it tells you what it is. I have never seen this one before. It is a lower case i with a circle around it and a line drawn through it. Can anyone help me with this or has anyone seen this before?
I installed xubuntu-desktop package ad it change the style of my desktop volume notification bubble form the corner to a square in the center of the screen.
I removed xubuntu-desktop package and logged out then in, but no change...
How do I fix this?
Xfce 4.10 on Ubuntu 12.04.
With reference to apps running non-maximized, I notice that the first program I open opens in the top left corner of the screen. The next is aligned with the top right corner.
I own a Samsung Galaxy 111. A fat white arrow with a black minus sign recently appeared in the top left hand corner of the screen. I've read that this means that the notifications have been turned off and that if I turn them on it will go away. I can't seem to locate where to turn them on.
It was working, now it does this.
put mouse to left corner
type a 'g' in the search field
screen moves around and comes back
do this again, type a 'g' in the search field, screen messes around, then on the top left side displays file edit etc...
