I have downloaded a package of SNMP for SUSE from http://www.net-snmp.org/ after download i have extracted my package on the suse machine but after that i dont know how to start the snmpd service or how to run because i want to use some snmp commands.
SNMPd on my CentOS systems is sending log messages to syslog every time it receives a query from my monitoring tools. Is there a way to lower the verbosity of SNMPd? It adds a lot of clutter to the logs.
Sep 12 13:05:40 myhost snmpd: Received SNMP packet(s) from UDP: [ipaddr]:42874
Sep 12 13:05:40 myhost snmpd: Connection from UDP: [ipaddr]:49272
I restarted snmpd and tried to do an snmp walk on the following OID: 126.96.36.199.4.1.2021.9.1. What I pasted bellow is just a subset of all the results but as you can see for some reason the data gathered is all 0's. Does anyone have any idea why this would be happening? Thanks.
