Since I re-installed Ubuntu, I have attempted to install a working nvidia driver. Despite having a functioning NVidia Graphics Card (see below for specifics), I was never offered the chance to install the proprietary driver. As a result, I attempted to install the one from the repos (nvidia_experimental_304).
The latest nvidia up in testing (310-19) has dropped support for cards 7xxx and below. To keep supplying a non-free driver for those cards, the last used nvidia that supported those is now packaged as nvidia-304xx.Anyone on those kind of older cards, please test this version (you'll see a pretty clear warning in the nvidia update):sudo pacman -Syu
sudo pacman -S nvidia-304xxThis should
I need some help on this one...before posting I've google and search around a bit can't find a solution. I'm sure its something I've looked but I need some help.

Hi guys,
I like new openSUSE very much, but I've small problem with mi graphics.
My graphic card is based on nVidia 9400GT chip, and works ok in Windows, MacOS X (using OSx86 project) and also in Linux - I mean in latest Ubuntu 10.04, which I used before switch back to openSUSE.
Hi,
I'm using Sony Vaio VPCCW26FG (CW Series). It's graphic card is NVidia GeForce GT 330M. I use Ubuntu 10.04 32-bit as my operating system, dual boot with windows 7.
Recently I installed new driver from NVidia 256.53, but looks like this driver is not so stable on my notebook.
Sometimes the NVidia driver is successfully loaded, but sometimes its failed to load.
Hi,
I've been trying to get my graphic card working under ubuntu and opensuse but to no avail.
First, i tried through additional drivers, but after installation it keeps saying "this driver is activated but not currently in use". That is 3D-accelerated proprietary graphics driver for NVIDIA cards.
I removed all packages associated with NVIDIA from Synaptic Package Manager and installed nvidia-current. When I click NVIDIA-Settings, gives an error like this:
You do not appear to be using the NVIDIA X driver. Please edit your X configuration file (just run `nvidia-xconfig` as root), and restart the X server.
Please help me, I need your helps.
There has been quite some discussion (rightfully) about precise an unity 3D not working with nvidia-drivers, I have not yet found any comment re nvidia and gnome-shell. (If there have been any, please excuse).
For love or money I could not get unity 3D to work with a GS 7200, 64-bit system. Once I install gnome-shell from the ubuntu repos I got 1280 FPS, everything else 3 D worked like a charm.
