http://askubuntu.com – I just installed my-humanity icon theme on my Ubuntu 12.10 but i have an issue : I extracted the archive to /usr/share/icons or/and to ~/.icons but when i apply the icon theme from gnome twek tool home folders icons dont update but stay to Ubuntu mono dark default icons. Only Launcher/tray icons change I attach screenshots in order to understand whats my issue : My folder icons on home : How they should be : Any ideas on how can i fix it ? Note : On nautilus as root (gksudo nautilus) they appear how they should be .. Only on user do not appear ! (HowTos)

As I strongly disliked the original icons in Gnome-Commander I have created a mime-icon set that features the (to me) most important icons in Ubuntu's Humanity theme style. When you use this your GC will look more like, e. g. Nautilus.

Just unzip and replace the icons in usr/share/pixmaps/gnome-commander/mime-icons with the ones you find in the unzipped folder.

I recently got the great ROSA icon theme from the ROSA repo, I extracted the archive and put it into the .icons folder, under KDE I can select the icons no problem, but under unity using gnome tweak tool they can't be selected (nor in ubuntu tweak) so I assume that there needs to be further steps in order to use a KDE icon theme in the unity/gnome desktop?

Any ideas?

When I choose icons for my desktop-files, I have the issue that a lot of them will not load in Tint2, especially the action-icons. What could cause this? Furthermore, when I look in /usr/share/icons there are a couple of Faenza-Crunchbang folders, but there seems to be very little inside the folders. Can I get these icons anywhere else?

I have installed an icon theme in Lubuntu. Icons have changed but not every icon. Folder icons are the same but there are many more icons for music folder, video folder etc. Opera has new icon, but they didn't change.

What should I do to change all the icons from the new icon theme?

I am using PCManFM as my file manager in Lubuntu.

I'm running Ubuntu 12.04 with gnome 3 shell. I'm currently using the icon theme Ubuntu mono-dark and I like it but there are just a few icons I want to change. I imagine changing those icons would just be going to some directory and replacing the images, so I looked at /usr/share/icons/ubuntu-mono-dark/ but I'm not sure where to go from there. There are 3 folders there, 16, 22, and 24.

Malys-Uniblue currently is one of the highest rated icon sets on Gnome-look (its score is 80%) and last week, a new version of this beautiful icon set has been released. This time, the color theme is black, hence the name is Malys-uniblack.

I previously enabled the display of the Computer, Home, Trash, and Network Servers icons on the desktop on Ubuntu 12.04, probably using MyUnity. Today, I installed a custom icon set and after rebooting, all four icons disappear from the desktop. I switched back to the default icon set, all of this using MyUnity, and rebooted.
