I have have to write a video device driver,
but rendering will happening in memory, not on a
physical card. I already wrote a simple
driver stripping out hardware piece code from
an existent vodoo driver. I an install it, uninstall

/dev/mydevice_video
So my friend got new laptop with mobility radeon 5470. It's not supported by neither free nor proprietary drivers, so he is stuck with vesa - correct me if I'm wrong.
How can he achieve 1366x768 - resolution native for his lcd panel? Currently we're limited to 4:3, up to 1024x768 - scales ugly.

Hey guys. I'm trying to install the proprietary x86 driver for the ATI Radeon 9600 XT graphics card under Slack 13. I downloaded the file (a ".run" file), but when I try to install via "sh [etc.]" it unpacks the archive, then tells me my kernel is not supported.
