High CPU temperature with Linux on a MacBook Pro

http://serverfault.com – I'm interested dual booting Fedora 17 64 bit on my MacBook Pro Mountain Lion laptop. I have it working thanks to various helpful web pages I've found in particular this one, but I still have a problem with high CPU temperatures that has so far eluded me. In OS X on my MacBook runs quite cool when the system is idle. The fans are barely audible. The case is barely noticeably warmer than room temperature. The CPU temperature tends to be in the mid 30s C. In contrast when I dual boot into Fedora 17 the CPU temperature is in the mid 60s C. This causes the case to be uncomfortably hot after (HowTos)
