Hiding specific remote CUPS printers?

http://forums.opensuse.org – My 11.2(KDE) machine automatically picks up several remote printers at work, most of which I never ever use. Is there a simple way to hide some selected printer? I only want to hide certain specific printer names (or printer IP-addresses), but see all other remote printers. So when I am travelling somewhere else, I want to see all printers that are currently available. (Distributions)

I have installed the new cups 1.6.2 packages and the good news is that printer recognition and sharing of local and remote printers now works.Although:-If I setup the remote printers on both PC's from their address as is found automatically.ie.Printer.1 "local"    hp:/usb/psc_1300_seriesPrinter.2 "remote"   dnssd://Stylus%20Photo%20830U%20%40%20Chakra-p

the remote printer appears in cups but if I try to do a test page i get a page not found error. it even says ready under yast printers.

it is set up on a remote desktop using cups>:(

Anyone have problems installing printers? I cannot install any printer since I get errors about cups.

Hello gentlemen, I do not have a problem - I just want some information.

Epson Workforce 545 Ubuntu 12.04.1 server Cups is configured and the printer is going wireless. I have a client workstation using Ubuntu 12.04.1 Desktop. I have the printer hooked up and running as a remote printer so I can send jobs from the client. I am just simply wondering this.

My Ubuntu laptop is connected to a Windows network that has four shared printers.

From the laptop I can print test pages, etc., with two of the printers. I cannot with the other two.

On another machine, a Windows machine, also connected to the network, I can print to all four of the shared printers. So I know that the printers are fine.

Hello all, For printing I use a print server which gives access to hundreds of different printers throughout the office. I see them all in cups or in the KDE printer configuration.

But in OpenOffice there is only a 'Generic printer' which prints on my default printer, but without any of the fancy options of the driver.

I would like to connect multiple printers and send print-files to each of them. I understand that printers are listed as /dev/usb/lp0, /dev/usb/lp1, etc. However, I have noticed that Linux does not list them in any particular order. I do NOT want to use CUPS to get the information for each of my printers.

Hello guys, I have a question

I have two same Epson printers, and they have the same vendor ID and product ID. When i use CUPS wizard to install printers only detect one printer.

What can i do to detect two same printers?

Hi I cant print in firefox 3.6 by cups. Whe i go to file print i see the printers. The file is send to the wright printer. Printer crasch. I look on internet en found a solution. Firefox can only print to file. I had to add gtk-printer-backbands ="lpr,file" in /etc/gtk-2.0 in the file gtkr. and restart cups
