I am using ubuntu12.04 and the xfce4.6.
Now I remove the libreoffice through the Ubuntu Software Center, however it seems that it is not removed completely.
Since I can find the libreoffice item at the menu Application-Office-LIbreOffice,also I can run the libreoffice command in the terminal.

In the terminal, when i type soffice or lowriter or libreoffice --writer i can't see any message. Also i deleted the ~/.config/libreoffice folder. But that doesn't help.
There is only one version of the libreoffice package in Debian Squeeze Backports:
apt-cache madison libreoffice

But I need to install the previous one (1:3.4.6-2~bpo60+2)
Is there a way to install it using packages (I don't want to install libreoffice manually as it has a lot de

Which package should I remove to completely remove libreoffice? I have no need for office tools.
That's the one gripe I have with package managers like apt, there's no simple way to perform the essential task of removing unwanted software :S

You probably want to install libreoffice-en-US insteadYes, or if you are in the UK then installing libreoffice-en-GB will be the way forward, and check which other language pack you have already installed and then remove that afterwards if you don't need it.
Hello, I don't want either LibreOffice or Abiword on one of my Ubuntu (12.04) boxes. When I try to uninstall LibreOffice then apt-get automatically installs Abiword. Of course, Synaptic and Aptitude do the same, while dpkg simply refuses to remove several core LibreOffice packages because of certain ridiculous dependencies based off Gnome. This just doesn't seem right.
Strange...My computer crashed after an electrial outage. When I got it up again I reinstalled Ubuntu 10.04. Then I tried to install LibreOffice. I removed OpenOffice, as required, and took the steps necessary to install it. Steps that I have taken a few times before.
I know that many people here are recommending LibreOffice, but what if I want to use OpenOffice? How do I install it? I see in Synaptic Package Manager that, if I choose openoffice.org, it will also install a number of libreoffice packages. Seems that it will install LibreOffice rather than OpenOffice.I got an issue with LibreOffice on Mac but my spreadsheet works fine in OpenOff
