I Currently have a rogers arc on 2.3.4 and rooted to remove all of the rogers bloat garbage stupid f#$#HRJ#HKFRHLEKH FLKJDSHFL K
Anyways, I saw that ICS is apparently FINALLY out but you need the pc software to install it.
Before installing that trash and updating, will this remove my root?
Hi.
I'm new in the Android phones and these days I'm going to buy Sony U so I wanted to ask you few questions...
Why do you root your phones? What is it that you acctually get when you root phone? Does the phone work faster?
Is it possible to root Sony U to Android 4.1?
What version of Android is faster 2.3 or 4.0.
Firstly I have an s3 running JB with Rogers here in Ontario. Ive been thinking about rooting my phone mainly because I want a better battery life and connect a ps3 controller with my phone for the GTA app.
I honestly know nothing about rooting or what this process even means completely but I have some questions:
1) Will rooting change the layout of my phone right away?
First of all, I'm not new to rooting my devices. This is the 4th Android phone for me (Dream, Magic, Captivate now the S III), all have been rooted by myself. What is scaring me off rooting at the moment is the flash counter and a decent working Rogers ROM. I need to be able to toggle LTE, when I travel out of the city there is LTE availability but it is garbage.
Awhile ago I went on the hunt to find software that would root my lg-l45c, weeks later I've found something that should root the majority of phones even Gingerbread 2.3.4! It's called unlock root. You can download it to your PC here: http://www.unlockroot.com/ after it's downloaded onyour PC you have to connect your phone to you PC with USB with USB debugging enabled.
Hello all, This is my first post on these boards. I have some experience with Android phones, rooting, flashing custom recoveries/ROMs.
Phones I have worked with so far:
Rogers HTC Magic+ - Rooted, Flashed Recovery & SPL, Flashed Custom GB ROM
Rogers LG Optimus 3D P925G - Rooted, Flashed Custom Recovery
I am fairly adept with computers. Windows OS and some Linux.

Hi There,
Once you have the steps together Rooting and Flashing Sony Xperia S on Android 4.0.4 is quite straightforward.
Just checked for software update on stock Rogers Firmware. 1.94.631.3 available for download OTA
Wonder if anyone updated?
I just recently got the phone, didn't have the chance to try custom roms yet. Planning to, due to rather average battery life.
If I update, will the current root methods n haxx work?
Thanks
I have samsung captivate glide with android with OS 2.3.6 (gingerbread?). I've been a unix/linux guy for a few decades but am new to phone android OS. I am wondering if I root this phone and then upgrade soon to ICS will my rooting prevent upgrade or might I need to do the rooting again.
Perhaps it's best to just wait a bit, upgrade to ICS and then root.
Thanks for ideas,
Tom Kosvic
