My computer has (had) a dual boot of Ubuntu Precise and Windows 7. Recently, when I started the computer, grub gave me an error saying "Unknown filesystem", and sent me to grub rescue. I searched for solutions to this, and found this answer: Unknown filesystem error: grub rescue.
i have installed ubuntu inside windows and then afterwords i installed fedora 16...all time during start up its show os selection by grub loader but after i did some partition on windows its shows error:unknown filesystem.enterting rescue mode..
i have installed windows 7 in my 1st partition and ubuntu in my 4th partition. i was doing some partition managing stuff.
I installed Ubuntu successfully by using acpi=off and nolapic. When I booted into the installed operating system all that the screen showed was several multi colored bars(This must have been my 10,000th installation attempt.)
I decided to get rid of Ubuntu by simply deleting the partition and re partitioning it as a blank drive.
Hey guys, I know there is a million posts out there on this same topic, but not one explains in detail what to do if you do not have the CD/DVD that came with the PC.
I have a Toshiba Satellite A505 running Windows 7 on Intel Core 2 Duo. I had partitioned my 500 GB hard drive and installed Ubuntu 10.10 on 95 GB.
Hi people i really need help. Im a 14 year old noob so yea i screw things up a lot. Anyways, my laptop is a Lenovo U260 with specs so bad i feel like puking, so i have had windows 7 home premium installed at first, then i installed Ubuntu alongside with the windows 7. Afterwards i installed Linux mint and Fedora, which i then wiped out fedora from a partition of 40 GB in my hard drive.
Hi,
I'm a pretty new Ubuntu user, and I can't figure out what to do from searching other threads.
Anyway, here's my situation:
I had Ubuntu 12.04 installed on a partition, and OSX 10.7 on another, and it worked great. Then after I installed 10.8, my Ubuntu partition no longer worked.
I dual boot LINUX and win seven. Recently I formatted my LINUX partition from within ms so I could install Ubuntu. I installed from the live CD and rebooted only to find no Ubuntu but grub listed my previous LINUX which of course didn't boot. Windows booted fine, so I formatted the LINUX partition again thinking to reinstall.
Okay, so I split my HD into two partitions, my original windows 7 partition and an Ubuntu partition. I needed to delete my ubuntu partition briefly, but now when I try to boot my computer it comes up with "error no such partition grub rescue." I've tried booting from my Ubuntu CD to reinstall it, but it doesn't work.
