hello
i've just burned a livecd (fedora 11), but it doesn't work correctly.
it says after i hit boot:
BUFFER I/O error on device sr0 logical block 352328
and then something else, which is similar so i didn't write it down.
i read on bugzilla, that is should try to append the boot command
I'm not sure exactly when this broke. I had no problem with audio cds before with Fedora 11. I normally just rip new cds and play from the HDD encoded file. I believe the last time it worked was earlier this week. Now all of a sudden when I load either of my DVD-ROM or DVD-RAM with an audio cd it reads it and then does not mount it. I have no problem with DVDs or Data CDs or Data DVDs.
I install FC in USB flash drives with one main reason: Its unraveled speed (compared with other popular Linux distros ) in booting up. However, I have been, and am being frustrated by boot failures in my experience with FC10 and FC11, both end up in data retrieving problem as saved data in persistent drive can only be accessed after system boot up.
I've been having problems ripping DVDs in Fedora 9 with anything that uses libdvdread - particularly dvdrip and mythtv. These errors appear in dmesg:
Buffer I/O error on device sr0, logical block 1107319
sr 1:0:0:0: [sr0] Result: hostbyte=DID_OK driverbyte=DRIVER_SENSE,SUGGEST_OK
sr 1:0:0:0: [sr0] Sense Key : Medium Error [current]
Info fld=0x21caee
After reinstalling my XP, the grub bootloader was replaced and now i can't see the Fedora option when booting. I found a solution, but it doesn't work correctly. Here it is:
Quote:
Run Fedora LiveCD and in terminal write:
Code:
[root@localhost ~]su -
mount /dev/sda7 /mnt
chroot /mnt
My Fedora 11 liveUSB stick used to work fine, but now when I try to boot it I get this error:
Buffer I/O error on device dm-0, logical block [some number]
Help?
My system is an Asus G50vt-X5 with a GSA-T50L optical drive (dvd rw).
After updating the other day my machine would run fine for a while and then suddenly just become very unresponsive and then freeze up spewing out the following errors:
Code:
ar 24 16:38:16 tim-pc kernel: [ 1645.358480] Buffer I/O error on device sda1, logical block 12486560
Mar 24 16:38:16 tim-pc kernel: [ 1645.358482] Buffer I/O error on device sda1, logical block 12486561

So, it's been a few weeks that I have been looking all over, read tons of forum post from either Linux websites, Ubuntu, or here (BT) community. I also spoke to 2 of my professors in IT.
