Unfortunately I got a semi-pro audio card with firewire interface, but my new notebook doesn't. I'm looking for an express card with sockets firewire 400, but what chipsets work with ubuntu?
Thanks in advance, I'm sorry for my english.
Hi Everyone!I have a Asus P5KR mobo with a quad core Q9550 + an old LSI (formely Agere) Firewire PCI Card (vendor: 11C1 Model: 5811).My Firewire soundcard (a Focusrite Liquid Saffire 56) is connected to the LSI PCI Card, wich is not detected by Chakra, and obviously by Libffado (The soundcard led "FW active" stays off, and when i launch the Firewire mixer, no hardware is detected)I'
I recently installed the newest version of Ubuntu on my laptop after Windows decided to stop working properly. I use my laptop for recording music so it's important that I get my gear to work with linux.
I installed the program I use with Wine and I have a recording interface that is connected to my computer through a firewire expresscard.
Title says it all.
Have you used a FireWire 800 / IEE 1394b PCI express expansion card successfully with Ubuntu?
Which one?
Thank you very much,
Matt
I was trying to install a firewire card in my system (see below). Although it was recognized, drives would not mount through it. I changed the /etc/modprobe.d/firewire-blacklist.conf, and then ran:
sudo update-initramfs -k all -u
When I rebooted, everything was working great. So I unmounted the firewire, then tried to remount it.

Hi,
I have a dell xps 14 laptop with fedora 18 installed. The SD card reader does not detect any cards. I get no dmesg output when inserting a card.
I assume this means I don't have the drivers installed. Output of lspci:
Code:
[conor@fedora ~]$ lspci | grep SD
09:00.1 SD Host controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd.
Hi all!
Just got my "Delock Express Card to eSATA II" today and wanted to try it out.
Plugged it into my Ubuntu 9.10 laptop and nothing happened.
No lights blinking and from what I can see in the System Log Viewer nothing is logged.
I need more USB ports cause I only got 2. I was looking at USB Hub or express card. Well the Express card would work better for me. I seen about 4 4port usb express cards on newegg and I was wondering what companies I should be looking for when it comes to linux support.
