I'm working on an android app that needs to constantly get location data, or as constantly as possible. I know this is going to drain the battery and use lots of data if the user isn't on wifi.
Is there any other way to transmit some kind of you are here message to a phone that wouldn't use data or be a constant drain on the battery by using the GPS.
OS Ubuntu 12.04 32-bit with the latest fixes to date.
I've long had this VPN set up. It had been working flawlessly until about a week ago when it started to unexpectedly disconnect.
I use Unity and NetworkManager. I click on NM -> VPN Connections -> <VPN Connection Name> and it connects without fail every time.
Hello all,
I updated my Galaxy S3 to 4.1.2 a couple of weeks ago. After the update, my phone started acting very crazy. It would freeze constantly, my messages would disappear and reappear randomly, and I constantly had to remove the phone's battery. Today, I decided to backup my phone's data with Samsung Kies so that I could do a factory reset.
Hey all,
This morning as I was getting ready to leave the house, I disabled my wireless connection and then put the phone in my pocket to head out the door. I got in the car, hooked everything up, but I couldn't get ANY data to download from Sprint. I turned mobile networks off for about ten minutes, back on, nothing.
I am facing a starnge problem during WIFI connection after I have upgradede to 4.0.4. When I browse using wifi after some time, the samsung galaxy s2 phone switches off. If I try to restart then it shows battery status with 1% charge status.
To conserve battery I keep 4G turned off when I am not using my phone for data connection. So to use data I turn it on, but it does not always make a connection right away. I get the 4G signal and the up and down arrows blink intermittently, but the webpage does not load. The bar at the top of the page moves about 1/8 of an inch and then stops.
Has anyone ever ran into an issue with Verizon reporting data according to the log in screen on My Verizon my phone has used 3.503 gb of data, when I check individual data for this phone is is not even close to 200mb of data used. I have contacted Verizon and they cannot seem to help, I just want assurance I am not going to be charged for going over my alloted data for the month which is 6gb.
If this is a dumb question I apologize. I've had the original HTC Incredible for the last two years and just got a Samsung Stratosphere yesterday.
Does this phone require you to have the data connection on constantly in order to be able to send/receive pics by text? I am not able to send/receive pictures by text unless I have the data connection on.
Zoomtel has released an Android app that tethers your phone directly to a Zoomtel 4501 or 4506 modem for some WiFi connection sharing goodness. Many of us already tether using carrier-approved or carrier-not-at-all-approved methods. These work well for sharing via WiFi in a limited area and a limited number of devices, and can quickly drain your battery.
