http://crunchbanglinux.org – Hi there,Im Alex from Portugal, im not a expert at linux, iv been using ubuntu on my laptop as main os since last year. Well i like ubuntu and all, but the problem was the stability.... ubuntu didn't support my sound card :S, tht really pissed me off, and i decided to look for the right kernel for my laptop. I changed to Fedora, Mint, Mandriva,Suse, and others... but i got the same problem with every os... till now, i tryed Crunchbang and Heyy it works SOoo good its fast no craches... its just great! i was going back to win 7 if #! wouldn't work. i found this forum very intresting... (HowTos)

This laptop has had ubuntu,suse,and fedora on it. Stuck with Ubuntu 8.04. Works good,faster than XP, network card, video,cdrom all work great- BUT sound doesn't work, common IBM problem

i am thinking of going from ubuntu to suse. i have a little experience with ubuntu but i have had bugs that are not resolvable at this time in ubuntu.. so instead of giving wild bill back my pc i am looking for a new distro. my concerns with ubuntu revolve around acpi. no fan control and high temp. the 2nd problem that is almost overlookable is the ata1 softreset error.

Hi, i'm a Crunchbang user for 3 months now, when i left Linux Mint. Right now i have Waldorf installed in my main machine (laptop Acer Aspire 5534) and everything run out of the box :D.This forum help me so many times (even after i start using #!) so i decide to sign in just to thanks all of you, the people in this comunity is really nice.

I have a problem when I power on my laptop (EliteBook 8530p) with fedora core 12 live cd in my optical drive. It simply will not start. The two numlock and capslock leds are flashing regularly and the screen is either blank, or it just freezes at the main menu (from which I can enter bios, etc). A HP assistant suggested that I should update my bios, but it's the same.

Howdi just discovered crunchbang from distro watch, Come from an Ubuntu < 10.10 background, then after Unity reared its head moved to opensuse and then when I couldn't stand yast decided to go to Fedora 16 but for some reason it refuses to work on my laptop, installs fine but then wont boot :(So off to Distro Watch seen crunchbang and I'm so glad Fedora didn't work now as crunchb

I have a laptop which works very well with windows 7. It has 4GB memeory and 650 GB Hard disk drive. It is Intel-based with core i7. I downloaded Ubuntu but every time I run ubuntu my laptop gets hot , slow and it is suddenly switched off interrupting my work. I do not know what is the exact problem but I thought the problem with the hardware. It might be not suitable for Ubuntu.

Hi everyone,I just install crunchbang on my laptop alongside win7 (till I learn enough). I wanted fast, lightweight and highly customizable linux. I'm not advanced linux user (I was using ubuntu, mint for short time I fail with arch) so I need to learn many basic things, so If U got something to explain to me - do it in capital letters pls  .

Hi, I have an ADVENT 8117 laptop with Ubuntu 10.04 The problem is, if i use the fn + F5 and F6 to turn volume up and down, the volume either goes max or mute, and the notification bar seems to jump and flash until the laptop is restarted. When this happens, i also cannot use any applet icons eg; sound, network. It also stops me from using the applications menu.
