HDD performance is slow in ubuntu

http://askubuntu.com – I am running ubuntu 12.04(32 bit). Suddenly after a reboot my laptop did not detect HDD. After couple of restart it failed to detect HDD. Then i change sata mode to IDE from AHCI in BIOS. Then it detect HDD again. And now HDD performance is very slow. I run a short test in disk utility. It shows no error or warning. Just a quick question about hdparm and blockdev:

when i run:

Code: hdparm -i /dev/sda and get this output

Trying to install SUSE on a perfectly working PC that was running Windows. Blew away all the partitions and formated the drives.

When trying to install SUSE, Installer will not detect my two hard disks. Tried with version 10.x, 11.1 and 11.2, without success.
