I upgraded from Fedora 15 to 17 with mostly no problems and it is working fine.
However, every now and again I get a notification that "Important software updates are available". When I click on the button to install them, it displays the list of updates and I can click "Install Updates".
I have 11.10 installed and have not had any problems updating until now.
I get this message when I run Update Manager:
55 updates are ready to install.
Hello, I just installed Fedora 17 a few days a go, and today I found out I have 482 updates, 300 something MB.. wow, that is a lot of bugs / updates.
Anway, I tried updating from Apper but it takes a long time to download and when I tried RPM / command line the other day it was much faster.
My questions are:
1. Is it normal to have so many updates?
2.
I'm a bit afraid of breaking my machine because I've heard some people have had that problem after updating. How safe is it to just let update manager install all available updates? I currently have 300+ updates waiting and I've just been going through them and installing the ones that I know what they do.
just did a fresh install of fedora 18 and my internet is working fine but software updates has been stuck on getting info for over 40min .
i formatted and reinstalled and same problem
can anyone confirm the update server is offline ?
if not why would updates work last night and not now ?
100% clean install fedora 18 64bit

Good day,
When I log into my web server via SSH I see the information:
88 packages can be updated.
80 updates are security updates
I tried apt-get update then apt-get upgrade but each time I log in I still see the message about updates. How do I install them?
Hello all,
I am beginning to use Ubuntu 12.02, and I have problems with the Update Manager and the software center (I guess something must be wrong with my repository list...).
The update Manager freezes when I click on install updates (and gives me lots of suggestions even though I regularly run apt-get upgrade and apt-get update), and the software center just won't start (it just shows a g
I routinely update my system whenever it notifies me of software updates.
