I have on my computer WinXp and tried to install Lubuntu .
Now it says it is Ubuntu. I am trying next to install Xubuntu.
The present Ubuntu(Lubuntu) is defective but I can log into it.
When booting the computer and the BIOS-settings adjusted accordingly, the system however goes where I can choose either windows or Ubuntu.
Have been running Ubuntu on my desktop since 9.something... now on 11.04, but have not done any updates for a LONG time... I saw Unity and decided I wanted no part of that! I have a laptop that I installed Xubuntu 12.04 on, and like the Xubuntu MUCH better than Ubuntu... So, decided that I would put Xubuntu on the desktop.
Well i installed Xubuntu on my system having a dual boot with Xubuntu and windows xp but when i select to boot on Xubuntu it freezes and gets a message saying that the file hal.dll in system32 cant be found. Before showing me this message i tryed to uninstall the Xubuntu inside from windows xp because several problems showed up after installing Xubuntu.
Hello, I currently have XP installed on a SATA HD.
Hello, i buy a new Computer and i want to use Xubuntu. I downloaded Xubuntu 12.04 64 Bit Desktop. If i try to boot from Live CD my Screen wents with bright colors and reboot what can i do? Currently i have windows 7 64 bit installed wich works without problems.
I am going to assume Xubuntu is the best choice in my situation.
Kubuntu 12.04 worked fine on an older computer, but it was evident that 12.10 was too much for it. So, I decided to put Xubuntu on instead, and it loads faster, but it's Xubuntu 12.04.
Now, I am trying to upgrade to 12.10, and I don't see the option to do this.
I just did the upgrade to xUbuntu 13.04 and now, at least once or twice a day, when I go to open an application - today it was Firefox - xUbuntu logs me out of everything, and all my open apps are nuked.
This is a far cry from the super-stable xUbuntu 12 .... help!!!! This is my work computer!

Hello,
I tried:
a) running disk management on Windows XP. There, I deleted all the partitions that Windows stated was unknown and did not belong to it. However, then I got some black screen saying "grub, no partition" when I tried rebooting my PC.
b) running the installation CD for Xubuntu, but it clearly does not have an "Uninstall" option.
