Have to restart network service on every boot

Hello,

I am running Fedora release 17 (Beefy Miracle) and would like to set up a static IP address. I work with RHEL so I thought I would be able to locate a file /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 but I have no such file on my system .

Did you try doing what it suggested and adding line saying DNS1=8.8.8.8 into /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0... [by TrevorH]

What's the use of /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth* files ? In some cases ifconfig lists the interface eth0 but I don't find the corresponding ifcfg-eth0 file whereas in other instances if I create the ifcfg-eth1 file and restart the network like service network restart - this interface is not listed in ifconfig ??

Hello, I have a problem with my noowbie script. It does not work. When I try to use it (for ex., /etc/init.d/myscript start) nothing happened. Before that I make chkconfig --add myscript and chmod 777 on it. Can you help me?

Create /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0:0 (etc) files for each one. You can base it off the existing ifcfg-eth0 file and remove the HWADDR= line and amend the rest of the details to match ... [by TrevorH]

Due to the lack of upstream support for Xen as dom0, I'm forced to resort to KVM. What I'm trying to do is set up F11 as dom0 as my firewall and another F11 as domU as my server.
