Fairfax Media is not re-making its publications for fax machines (which came about in the late 1800s), but instead THE digital device of the 21st century thus far: the Apple iPad (and soon, other tablets).

With pricing targeted at the cappuccino set, Fairfax Media has unveiled a home grown iPad application which will allow users to download its Sport&Style magazine each month for $3.49.
Fairfax real estate site Domain.com.au, claiming to be buoyed by the success of its iPhone app, can now be accessed from a customised app for iPad, offering features over and beyond those of its smaller iPhone cousin. According to Fairfax, Domain.com.au, which trails market leader Realestate.com.au, is the first major real estate portal to hit the iPad.
The iPad is a great canvas for beautiful apps, but unless you are a pretty competent developer or designer, getting your own content onto the iPad isn’t exactly easy. Tactilize wants to make it significantly easier for writers, photographers, videographers and anybody else who produces interesting content to feature – and monetize – their works on the iPad.
Did some quick tests between the devices, results were quite interesting. Android 4.1.1 and iOS 5.1
- I loaded up 25 different web pages - The S3 loaded EVERY web page faster than the new iPad
- S3 closed apps (returned to homescreen) and opened apps quicker than the new iPad
- At the end of testing, the new iPad was boiling hot.
