On CentOS 6 I cannot install GeoIP even though many websites describe installing GeoIP with the following commands:
yum install GeoIP GeoIP-devel GeoIP-data
I get No package GeoIP available.
I installed php5-geoip module on ubuntu 10.04 (apt-get install php5-geoip)
And updated the geocities.dat library
The production server performance decreased and load average is soaring. before the install it was less than 1 in the same traffic level.
I suspect that the geoip data is not memory cached.
How can I activate memory caching for this module?
Thanks,
Nir

How can I get my battery info (percentages) on Fluxbox?
I've heard of the gnome-power-manager, and wanted to use that, but there seems to be a problem...
$ gnome-power-manager
gnome-power-manager: command not found
And when I try to install it:
$ sudo apt-get install gnome-power-manager
Reading package lists... Done

I have installed Ubuntu 11.10 three months after release. The install had to run without Internet connection because I only have slow and expensive (USB modem) broadband.
Now the Update Manager is reminding me that some 350 updates are waiting to be downloaded and installed, something short of 400 MB. Well, I cannot do it.

I have installed created and installed Centos 6 with Virt-manager and everything seems to be working except the internet.

The latest updates brought in an updated update-manager-core (0.161) that requires update-manager itself to be removed, as it's not updated. After falling for this one on one quantal install, I tried to check the Changelogs, and ran into some indications that update-manager was to be re-named Software Updater, but no information about any intention to remove it.
Anyone got any more information?
