So the Half Life 1 forums are ablaze with Linux and Mac users that have no more save files after the latest update. The problem is an easy fix, for some reason they just changed where the saves go and you have to move them to where it wants them to be. I've written a small script to automate the process and attached it to this topic.
Hi everyone.
I installed Half Life 2 recently on steam under wine.
Under the launch options of steam, I've put -novid, so it skips the graphics start and allows me to load a game.
Now, the full Half-Life (1) experience can be enjoyed on the best operating system! The are still in beta, but I'm downloading them as I type.
Besides the heavy hitters from Valve that have been launched on Steam for Linux so far, a couple other smaller titles will arrive soon. The firsts Half-Life had quite a few addons and mods, but the most successful of them were Opposing Force and Blue Shift. In Opposing Force, players have the chance to play the role of soldier sent in to eliminate Gordon Freeman.
Finally, Valve has the pleasure of releasing the Portal game for all Linux operating systems, through the Steam platform. Valve officially released the Portal game back in 2007, along with Team Fortress 2 and Half-Life 2.
Valve has launched yet another Beta version for its Steam for Linux client, this time with just a few minor fixes and improvements.
After a development version garners sufficient changes, Valve promotes it to stable.
The Linux Distro Community will have a draw on March 15, 2013 with the winner being given a 5 game Steam bundle.
Games in the bundle:
-Half Life
-Counter Strike Source
-Trine2
-Puddle
-Killing Floor

After launching the original Half-Life and Counter-Strike on Steam for Linux, Valve has now started to push updates for the two games.
Both games are pretty stable, especially after so many updates over the years, but it seems that the version for the Linux platform will need some further improvements.
Here are some highlights for the new Half-Life update (it also applies to Counter-Strike):

Hi all,
I had some troubles with installing Black Mesa with wine. Here what i've done to make game run properly. All I'll write you can find in web, but not in the one place. So firstly I'd like to thank all good people sharing their knowledge publicly. I'm sorry if all of those is easy, and I'm only retarded in here.
