Google Summer of Code (GSoC) is a program that offers students an paid opportunity to write code for several open source projects. The purpose is to benefit open source projects and encourage young developers to hack and learn.

openSUSE has cleared the first hurdle towards a series of successful Google Summer of Code projects! As was disclosed last Saturday by OMGSUSE: Google has accepted our proposal and we are now a mentoring organization. This means that if you’re interested in working a whole summer FULLTIME on openSUSE and getting paid for it, this is your chance!
For the 7th year in a row KDE has been accepted as a mentoring organisation for Google Summer of Code. We are delighted to be able to work with great students throughout the summer again. To find out more about the program visit the GSoC website and pay special attention to the FAQ and timeline.

We are very happy to announce that registration and Call for papers is now open for the GStreamer Conference 2011.
Due to the success and great attendance of last years event this is the second year we are organizing a conference focusing on GStreamer and GStreamer related technologies.
We are happy to announce that the schedule for this years GStreamer Conference in San Diego, USA is available. You can find out more about the conference and schedule on the GStreamer Conference page. This year in addition to a lot of interesting talks about GStreamer we have talks about ALSA, V4L, OpenGL and the Opus Video codec.
KDE has been accepted as a mentoring organization in Google Summer of Code 2013. For students, now is the perfect time to start working on their proposal. The KDE community maintains an ideas page which is an excellent starting point. This year KDE will also participate in the Free and Open Source Outreach Program for Women, and will also be hosting Season of KDE 2013.
This summer the KDE project will once again participate in Google Summer of Code! Summer of Code will allow KDE to grow and bring in new developers to the community.
Google Code-In 2012 is something like Google Summer of Code, except it targets preuniversity students.
