https://bbs.archlinux.org – Hello all,As some of you probably know, Gstreamer 1.0 was released about 10 days ago.This new stable release is based on the 0.11 series and hence offer a different API comparing to the 0.10 series.I realize that while the applications depending on it don't make the necessary port it's of little use, but was interested if there's a "general concept" of its future in Arch.That is, when will Arch packages be made available, so once applications are ported to support it a package will already be available.Thanks, Adam. adam777 https://bbs.archlinux.org/profile.ph (HowTos)

gstreamer is not necessary except where it is.^in arch I have noticed a choice in the app's I have chosen to install, for gstreamer dependency.

It could be the mailman at archlinux.org, arch-general, the bbs like in this case, users choice.What's the Keep-It-Secure-and-Stable (KISS ;-) direction?Since arch uses vanilla packages, just read lists from http://seclists.org, e.g. bugtraq, I think

The GStreamer project is pleased to announce the very first release of the new API and ABI-stable 1.x series of the GStreamer multimedia framework.

The 1.x series is a stable series targeted at end users. It is not API or ABI compatible with the 0.10.x series.

I do have gstreamer installed. I use fluxbox as my WM. 'mplayer -ao alsa' on a test video is suffering the volume changes.I don't know, is gstreamer involved in this case? I wouldn't think so, but again, I don't know alsa that well and I know even less about these "modern" things like gstreamer.

Thank you for your reply.I've been building archlinux toolchain in sh4.But, I decide some base tool chain keep the STLinux(which come from original OS).Now, pacman and yaourt can work.But, I which I can keep 'any' packages just use the arch's mirror.  Because that will let me keep update-to-date 'any' arch packages.
