GSB and Editor Preferences

http://www.linuxquestions.org – This has been bugging the heck out of me. I have slack64 13.1 and I'm running gnome after installing GSB. The only problem I'm having right now is getting it to save my preferences. Ex. I want to use Gedit when I double click on a PHP file, but it wants me to use VIM. So I right click -> open with -> select Gedit from list and check "Remember this application for PHP files". Then I click ok and try again. Once again it opens VIM. I've looked through all kinds of settings and can't find any help. Anyone have an answer? (HowTos)

Hello. I have the following problem. While I can read any file on gedit I can save it(save buttons are disabled)! I get the following message:

I have reinstalled gedit and deleted all config files.

I'm using Ubuntu 12.04.

I use Xfce-panel with it's task list plugin. When an aplication opens a dialog and a swith to another window, then I can't return to it.To reproduce it: open gedit, press CONTROL+F to open the "Find" dialog. Now switch to another aplication leaving the Find dialog opened in gedit.

I would like to configure gedit so that everytime I double click on a text file it will open on a new window instead of a new tab. How can this be done?

Something like,

gedit --new-window "file name"

, but with a double click

In Qt, item views have two separate concepts of "clicked" and "activated" (== double click by default).

One of the big annoyances in Evolution for me was when setting the composer preferences the options for "automatically insert emoticon images" "start typing at the bottom when replying" and "keep signature above the original message when replying" were grayed out and unusable.
