GRUB prompt at boot after boot-repair

http://askubuntu.com – I tried installing Ubuntu 12.04 from the live CD. The install went fine but i had the next error while booting : Grub stage 1.5 error 2. So I used boot-repair as explained here. Still not working, i got this while booting : GNU GRUB version 1.99-21ubuntu3 Minimal bash-like line editing is supported. etc.. Nothing more. Here the report from boot-repair. Could anyone help me ? (HowTos)

I installed Ubuntu 12.04 in my computer without problems, but after rebooting i got the following error:

Error: No such partition grub rescue>

I am a novice with ubuntu and any detailed instructions to the problem will be highly appreciated.

I ran boot repair as per the following:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:yannubuntu/boot-repair sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install -y boot-repair boo

I recently upgraded to 12.04. After booting I only got the grub shell with no kernels loaded. I tried running boot repair. It told me I use GPT and would need to create a new grub-boot partition. I did this and ran boot repair again successfully. However I now get only a blinking underscore on boot and don't even get a grub shell. Any ideas?

Following a fresh install of 12.04 on a dual HDD dual boot system first boot brought up Grub Rescue.

I installed Boot Repair in a live CD and ran the recommended repair. Boot Repair indicated a successful repair.

Upon reboot there is no entry for Win XP.

Gparted shows sda as full as it was before installing 12.04.

Earlier today i installed ubuntu 12.10 beta. Grub wasn't booting, but just going directly to my primary OS Windows 7. I assumed i had partitioned incorrectly, because partitioning isnt my strong suit. I used boot repair because it was well recomanded off a live usb. Afterwards, grub appeared, but i only had options for Ubuntu, Advanced Ubuntu Option, and my hidden windows 7 recovery partition.

I've been dual-booting Kubuntu and Windows 7 for a couple of weeks and I've been able to boot into Kubuntu just fine until this afternoon. Now when I choose Kubuntu's entry, instead of the regular bootloader I get the grub prompt screen saying "Minimal BASH-like line editing is supported.", etc.

I have a dual boot of Win7 and Ubuntu on my HP laptop. I upgraded from Ubuntu 11.10 to 12.04 today and on restart I got a different black Grub screen instead of the usual purple one. (GNU GRUB version 1.99-21ubuntu3.1) Each boot option only returns error messages.

I've successfully installed ubuntu to dual boot with windows 8.

However i had to use boot-repair to get grub started instead of win8. I can't find any ways to change which file uefi is starting by default so it must be a fixed location.

Any easy ways to identify where grub starts from?

I am currently trying to get my grub back. I have tried everything from reinstalling, to boot-repair, and even super boot manager. Nothing seems to work.

I have created a log with boot-repair:

Reinstalling Ubuntu messed up my boot loader so I I tried to fix it with boot repair. It detected my OSX installation and asked about removing the "separate boot/EFI". It also said my partition was full despite the fact that it wasn't and asked me to remove stuff. I declined both and proceeded. It's been stuck at the "purge and reinstall the GRUB" stage for half an hour.
