Grub is missing after resizing windows XP (NTFS) partition. What is to be done?

http://askubuntu.com – I had installed Lubuntu on a PC with Windows XP and used dual boot for some time with no problems. Since I had almost abandoned Windows (kept it for printing...) I decided to resize its ntfs partition and add the free space to my Ubuntu space. Tried that with a gparted stick and a live cd but would not work due to an issue related to the ntfs partition: gparted signaled with a red exclamation point that there was a problem with that partition. I read that a checkdisk might solve it but in the end used EaseUS in Windows to shrink (resize) the ntfs partition and create a new one (ext3) from th (HowTos)

I'm trying to set up a dual boot Lenovo Ideapad that came with Windows 7.

Lenovo uses up 4 partitions out of the box. They are:

(unnamed) 14GB

LENOVO D: 30GB

SYSTEM_DRV 200MB

Window7_OS C: 400GB

I have no idea what the first 3 do.

I have tried to resize (shrink) my NTFS partition so that I will be able to get more space for my ext4 Ubuntu's (12.04 64 bit) partition but after the partition has been resized I am unable to mount it.

I prefer Ubuntu to work on, but for some applications for school, I need windows. I've done some research and have a few problems:

1) I only have one hard drive which is formatted as ext4, not ntfs.

I have a partition that I resized using gparted from my ubuntu and after that I installed windows 7 on that.

partition 1: ubuntu partition 2: windows partition 3: unallocated

I am trying to dual boot windows XP. I had to use gparted to make room for my /home to be transfered to another partition, I also changed it to a logical partition. Where my /home was, I have formatted it using gparted to ntfs and made it bootable; however the windows cd cannot find any windows partition. I formatted the primary partition as ntfs and bootable.

Hi, This seems like it should be pretty simple but I am having problems determining Windows partition .vs Linux partition.

I have 350Gb of unallocated space on my hard drive & would like to install Ubuntu there. From what I have read Ubuntu prefers to be in charge of the partitioning for GRUB.

It looks like /dev/sda1 & sda2 are to be partitioned ntfs.

how does one resize the boot partition to install win 8? i have a 30 gb boot ntfs. all other partitions are fat32 on my 750 gb hdd.
