Hi! Recenty I bought the Asus N55SF laptop with Intel Core i7-2670QM(Intel HD Graphics 3000 inside). Shortly after I had installed the Ubuntu 11.10 I realised that it seems to be partially blind to my internal graphic card.
OK so I just got Ubuntu the other month or so. I'm running the 11.04 version currently and trying to install drivers for a Nvidia graphics card (it's my brother's computer and he currently cannot find the number of the card right now). I read that, to install the proper drivers for gaming, I would need to go into "Additional Drivers" and choose them myself.
Okay I have Ubuntu installed but am having one hell of a time trying to get it to recognize my Nvidia GeForce GT 525M graphis card. But my laptop also has intel 3000 graphics.
I am re-installing ubuntu and want to start fresh. I just want to use the intel 3000 for graphics, How can I do this?
I have a system with switchable graphics: an ATI Radeon HD 6770M, and an Intel HD 3000. I installed the driver from additional-drivers. The Post Release Updates one was unable to be installed, so I simply installed the other one.
Everything works fine with the AMD card.
The problem is when I switch to the Intel card to get more battery life, I have to use Gnome classic or Unity 2D.
Hi guys,
I got an acer aspire 5755G with Nvidia GT630M optimus technology and want to make use of it as that is my last job to get my acer to a complete ubuntu laptop.
I recently installed Ubuntu 12.04 on my desktop. System details shown by Ubuntu are as:
Memory: 3.8 GB
Processor: Intel® Core™ i3-3220 CPU @ 3.30GHz × 4
Graphics: Unknown
OS: type 32-bit
Now I don't understand why graphics is 'unknown'.
I've dual-boot my Ubuntu 12.10 and I had my default 12.04 LTS problem, it is the Graphics. Usually I use the "Additional Drivers" to check out my "hidden" Graphics card. But after I replace the Precise with Quantal, I didn't found my "Additional Drivers" in System Settings!! I already download from Ubuntu Software Center, and after it finish I still can't find it.
Laptop: Lenovo B570
OS: Ubuntu 12.04 x64
Processor: Intel® Core™ i3-2350M CPU @ 2.30GHz × 4
Graphics Card: Intel HD graphics 3000
So I have done these commands so far in an attempt to fix my graphics on Ubuntu.
sudo apt-get intall mesa-utils
sudo apt-get install updates
sudo apt-get install libtxc-dxtn-s2tc0
After I installed the Lib.
I have a sony VAIO with the NVIDIA GT 1GB 640M LE. It's an optimus card, there's a button on above the keyboard that switches between using the NVIDIA card, or just Intel HD 4000 graphics to save power. I've tried unsuccesfully several times to install the NVIDIA driver instead of the native one that comes with Ubuntu, but I kept getting errors so removed it.
